Ancient Spirits of Evil

When Casey discovers a buried cache of Light Arrows in the courtyard, her scientific mind races to discover what they're made of.  After weeks and weeks of trying, however, she finally gives up.  Soon, she realizes that her hands have broken out in a severe rash.  She is suffering from selenite poisoning, a fatal condition which normally occurs in a matter of seconds when the Light Arrows make contact with demonoid skin.  Shawn and Jonas begin rushing to find a cure for the disease while the rest of the Phoenix Fighters find themselves wondering about how the Light Arrows came to the courtyard in the first place, most of them blaming Tranns who pleads ignorance.

Early a few days later, the kitchen is discovered to be in a state of disarray.  There are signs of a struggle and Casey is nowhere to be seen, but the remains of a shattered mirror are found on the floor.  The House goes into a state of panic, sending out searching parties for Casey while at the same time trying to keep news of her disappearance a secret from Maze.

Casey wakes up to find herself in an abandoned warehouse, behind held prisoner by a mysterious man named Anthora.  He heals her hands through Ra medicines and demands that Casey manufacture a way for him to escape from Shaldani through the Ebene barrier.  Casey insists that it's not possible to breach the barrier and Anthora threatens to kill her friends.  She finally tells him that she doesn't have the proper equipment necessary.  It's all back in her lab.

Anthora blindfolds Casey and leads her back to the Phoenix House.  He gives her five minutes to collect what she needs.  If she tells anyone about him, he'll kill her friends.  Casey manages to convince Shawn to steal a file for her from Adriana's office.  Armed with the file, a mirror, and a few random chemicals, Casey returns with Anthora to the warehouse.

Adriana immediately becomes aware of the missing file, as she has a tracking spell on all her paperwork.  Casey's closest friends, Shawn, Jonas, Pipira, and Aeq decide to set out on a rescue mission, sensing that she's in danger.  Rinault attempts to join the mission as well, but an injured ankle and orders from Amorette keep him at bay, though he manages to bruise and batter both Philip and Ariadne in the struggle.

They follow the signal from the file and discover the warehouse, mounting a sloppy rescue that nearly turns disasterous until Casey gives the mirror to Shawn.  Shawn shows Anthora his own reflection and the Ra is knocked unconscious.  The group decide to hog tie him and abandon the warehouse, but as they depart, Anthora regains consciousness long enough to tell Casey that he is her uncle.  Although uncertain of whether to believe him or not, Casey cannot ignore the fact that she has the red eyes of a Ra.  Back at the House, Aden admits that he bought the Light Arrows on the black market, fearing a return of Philip Dragmire and the mystery is at last solved.
