Casey scans Jesse and announces that he needs a complex operation.  Valero, however, is unable to operate because he is sick himself with Trackfang's disease.  Mia therefore seeks a cure for Valero.  Back on the field, the team manages to break into the Ebene stronghold.  Pfalz knocks out the guards, but Maze then kills them all, horrifying her.  Pfalz, Telian, and Maze proceed to the lab where the machine is located while Krysta is caught and dragged to the dungeon.

 

At the House, Mia discovers a complicated magical cure for Valero.  She goes about, collecting tears from four females of pure blood, including from Adriana who has just discovered she is carrying triplets.  Once she has the tears, Mia asks Pipira to take her to her family farm so they can collect yeast and wheat from Pipira's mother Aikiy to bake the tears into bread and feed it to Valero.  Once Valero is cured, he operates on Jesse, saving the boy's life.

 

The strike team in the Ebene fortress is attacked by an energy dragon generated by the Ebene defense system.  The creature knocks out Maze and Telian, then speaks to Pfalz, ordering her to destroy the machine but save the blueprints so it can be rebuilt.  She does so, getting Telian and Maze out of danger, then proceeds to the basement where an Ebene officer named Trax is torturing Krysta.  Pfalz and Trax exchange angry words.  Pfalz manages to rescue Krysta and the team returns to the House, battered and bruised.

 

Things slowly return to normal, the Phoenix Fighters welcoming the newly arrived Risans Lilah and Kazuo.  Alone in the House, Pfalz discovers the blueprints of the machine she stole are damaged beyond repair.  Though she is grateful the machine cannot be rebuilt, alone she worries about how the Ebene officers blackmailing her will respond to this turn of events.
