What A Tangled Web We Weave

Valero and Amorette return from leave with tales of Hyrule.  All is not well in the Phoenix House however.  After a confrontation with Lucien regarding Tranns, Aden laments to Mia that he doesn't trust the charmer with his sister.  Both Mia and Tranns become enraged with Aden.  He seeks solace with Adriana, but finds none.

Later that night, Casey walks through the deserted hallways and discovers Aden unconscious on the floor.  She drags him to her room and summons Valero.  Together, they determine that something magical has gotten into his bloodstream.  Casey fetches Adriana who confesses she's known about Aden's magic addiction, but thought it was past.  Mia, listening in from outside, bursts into the scene.  The four of them vow to keep Aden's condition secret.

The next morning, Aden awakes.  Adriana confronts him with angry words while Mia tries to comfort him.  Adriana suggests that he step down as leader, but no suitable replacement can be found.  Aden resolves to give temporary command of the House to Adriana.  A Hylian elder, under the name of Lord Javert arrives at the House.  Although somewhat terse, he is welcomed into the fold, being a very powerful mage.  When he and Casey are alone, he privately mentions to her that his real name is Maze.

The next day, Jesse asks Casey where Aden is.  She lies, telling him that he is on a supply run.  Later, Jesse mentions this to Ariadne.  Confused, Ariadne informs him that she can smell Aden in the House and that Casey must have lied.  Maze hears this and becomes enraged.  He storms into the kitchen and demands that Casey tell him what's going on.  When she refuses, he threatens to announce her betrayal to the entire House.  Jonas and Shawn rush to Casey's defense, but things get hectic.

When Casey refuses to tell what she knows, Maze announces his intentions of summoning the royal guard.  A scene draws Jesse, Amorette, and Adriana into the kitchen just in time to hear Maze call Casey a princess.  Jesse draws a sword on Maze as he is about to retreat, despite Adriana's cautions.  Suddenly, Casey steps forward, commanding him in the name of the Dikawa dynasty to obey the commands of Adriana.  Maze responds by handing her a warrent from Queen Darla.  He has been sent to the Phoenix House as a royal baby sitter.  Adriana lays down the law, allowing him to stay on the condition that he cooperates with the authorities of the House.  He accepts.
