After having her organic brain revived by Jake after falling into the pool,Pipira's life span had been much shorter than
normal. After going around the House and saying her goodbyes to anyone who was awake, Pipira very quietly dies
surrounded by her friends. Her death affects most everyone in the House, though it hits her three closest friends,
Shawn, Sito, and Jake the hardest. After convincing Jake that Pipira didn't want him to try and bring her back to life, Sito
arranges her funeral.
A few days later, a timid girl named Noko arrives at the House, claiming she wants to help with
the fight against the Ebene. While there is nothing remarkable about her, Sito is shocked to find Noko looks identical
to a girl he drew a picture of for Pipira. Meanwhile, Casey does her best to comfort the grieving Shawn. They
sit by Pipira's grave and talk about life. Suddenly, Shawn turns around and proposes to Casey. Baffled, she accepts.
A
thief calling herself the Ace of Spades is caught by Rinault trying to steal some things out of the attic. She is locked
downstairs and is pestered by a few members of the House for information until Adriana arrives. She lets the thief go,
but not before casting a spell on the girl that will apparently turn her fingers into cucumbers if she ever tries to steal
something from the House again.
A few hours later the thief returns to the House, carried by Rinault and followed by
Krysta who stalked out of the House after a spat with Adriana. The girl had been beaten up by an Ebene soldier
and though she refused to admit it, couldn't walk. Adriana puts the thief in Rinault's custody until she is healed,
much to the girl's discontent.
Sito, befriending Noko, tells her all about Pipira. As the conversation wears on, Noko begins to show signs of
knowing the story. Before Sito's eyes, Noko's features shift and change until suddenly, she appears as Pipira.
Pipira died because the liquid she ran on ran out of energy. The moment it did, her body merely ceased to work.
There could be no substitute for the liquid because she was designed to run on it and nothing else. Unable to identify
who or what restored her, Pipira embraces a third chance at life. Casey and Shawn return from the Wayist Mission, earning
the House a new set of suppliers. Following her visit to the mission, however, Casey shows increased signs of concern
regarding the inevitable return of Maze.
