Tranns and Lucien have a shooting lesson in the courtyard.  As Adriana and Warren watch, Warren convinces Adriana not to let the couple leave on their planned trip to Terabithia so that he might possess Lucien's body for a while.  Pipira, meanwhile, once again longs to be outside.  Overhearing from Casey that Jonas is going on another supply run, she begs Adriana and Jonas to let her come along.  The two agree, and Jonas and Pipira set off the next day.  Back in the kitchen, Casey, asked by Adriana to act as midwife begins extensive research into the subject.

When Jonas and Pipira arrive in Recosta, they are greeted with a destroyed town.  Within the rubble, they find Jonas’s supplier and good family friend, Big Ronaldo, dead.  Two Ebene officers, Hinterhalt and Satoru, have been staking out the place for a while, knowing of the supply runs.  They attack Jonas and Pipira and succeed in capturing them.  Hinterhalt notices the chip on Jonas’s neck and recognizes him as an escaped test subject.  He rips the chip out of Jonas’s neck and the officers tie up the two, taking them to a temporary camp.

Casey begins to get very emotional about her work.  When Shawn confronts her about this, she suffers a meltdown, confessing to him how her parents allowed for her own multilation at the age of thirteen so that she couldn't have any children to confuse the inheritance of her royal lineage. 

Despite his depression and fear, Jonas comes up with a plan for him and Pipira to escape.  When Hinterhalt and Satoru come to take them to the stronghold, Pipira trips Satoru and uses her legs to take out his sword and tosses it to Jonas.  Jonas cuts himself free and cuts Pipira’s bindings. 

The four engage in battle, which ends with Pipira getting banged up, Jonas getting a large gash on his chest, and Jonas fatally wounding Hinterhalt.  The two barely escape and arrive safely at the House, empty handed.  Valero bandages up Jonas’s wounds as Jonas slips deeper into depression.  As Adriana is intitiating a new comer, Aster, into the House, she abruptly changes her mind about Tranns and Lucien, allowing them the R&R they so richly deserve.
