A mysterious stranger named Khann arrives at the House, bringing a confused Adriana who has no memory of her past or the Phoenix Fighters.  Meanwhile, Jesse has been suffering of upper back pains for a week, which seem to grow worse by the day.  Pfalz examines him and discovers two knots on his muscles.  Ariadne has Adriana sing for Joey.  After a moment of panic, Joey informs her that Adriana’s memories were wiped by Felsen at her own request and that she has no future.  Tranns and Philip react angrily to this, both of them avoiding Adriana.  Trista seems weary of Khann.

Sic, still blind and muted, goes to Jesse to say goodnight before going off to bed, but once Jesse kisses her, she pulls away and begins to insult him, using her voice as though she’s had it all along.  Sic begins to attack Jesse when Jake shows up.  Sic calms down immediately when she sees him.  She begins to talk to Jake and it quickly becomes clear there is something in possession of her body.  Soon, Jake realizes the spirit in her is her brother and Jake’s best friend, Ev.

Ev tells Jake that he and Sic really should have gotten together, since Sic always played the fair maiden needing to be rescued in their many fake adventures.  Jake tells Ev that Sic is with Jesse which infuriates him again.  He insists that this isn’t the way the story is supposed to go, but Jake tells him that this isn’t one of the stories they used to make up back home.  Ev is angered further and runs possessed Sic to the roof, barricading it with a magical barrier.

Jake and Jesse break through to find the possessed Sic standing at the very edge of the roof.  Ev seems determined to destroy the bad ending to the story.  Jake runs back downstairs to get something, leaving Jesse to convince Ev not to kill Sic by jumping off the roof, but Ev has no interest in listening, telling him he has destroyed the story.  Jake comes back up the stairs to see Ev/Sic step off the roof and Jesse jump after.  Wings sprout from Jesse’s back and he catches Sic, a strange light surrounding the couple.

Jesse drops Sic the instant he lands on the roof, reeling with pain.  The liberated Sic asks Jake to help get rid of whatever is ailing Jesse.  Jake departs with some hesitation to find a cure and Sic takes Jesse to his room.  Downstairs, Tranns and Lucien discover Khann taking advantage of Adriana and Tranns responds violently.  Sick of waiting, Sic leaves to get help from Casey, Jonas, and Shawn.  They retrieve Jesse and set him down on a lab table.

The three have no idea how to help Jesse, but Jake comes in carrying a box.  Without a word he lays the box next to Jesse and whispers something.  A ghostly figure of Ev rises up out of Jesse and lunges for Jake.  Jake opens the box and Ev is immediately sucked into it, struggling all the way.  Jesse recovers and Jake vanishes with the box, leaving everyone to wonder at how he was able to accomplish his miraculous exorcism.
