Joey demonstrates more of her powers to the House. She reveals to Casey that through physical contact, she can
see a person's past. When Aden returns to the House from his trip to Risa, he dubiously welcomes her to the team and
proceeds to present souveniers to everyone. Aden appears surprisingly calm and free of his withdrawal symptoms.
A flock of vampires show up on the doorstep of the House. Tranns, deeply afraid of vampires, throws them out, telling
them that until it can be proved whether or not they have souls, they can't stay in the House. Reluctantly, she also
dismisses Lylia who invited the vampires in the first place.
Unfortunately, Tranns is unable to dispose of Sara, one particular vampire who proceeds to enthrall and bite Shawn.
Chaos ensues and Jesse manages to lock Shawn in the basement cage, out of fear that he may turn. Sara returns to claim
Shawn, but ends up in a fierce battle with Ariadne, ending when Airy decapitates the vampire, reducing her to a pile of dust.
Shawn seems fine afterward.
Aden orders Casey to develop a better method for fighting vampires. After doing careful research of several Watcher
diaries, Casey decides to attempt to create a Pushpin Sunburst, a tablet that, when shattered, produces a momentary burst
of sunlight, capable of reducing all vampires into dust.
Working with Shawn and Jake, Pipira watching on, Casey produces several trials which all explode, the last one nearly
killing her. A stray comment from Pipira throws Casey into a world of dejection, compounding into terror when she realizes
that Pipira is a figure from her past. Jonas and Shawn try to cheer her up, but it is Joey, who confesses that she comes
from a family of Watchers, that inspires Casey. She reworks the formula and manages to produce the first ever Pushpin
Sunburst.
