Pipira Lends A Hand

Pipira is dying to go outside and visit her beloved home country but is strictly told by everyone she meets it isn’t going to happen.  Finally, on the day of her birthday she manages to weasel Sito into taking her outdoors for at least a few minutes.  Sito is convinced they’re being watched the entire time and it turns out he is right.  Sitting in a tree nearby is Cecilia.  Sito is immediately put on guard but after talking awhile it becomes apparent that she isn’t there to do harm and is really even apologetic about her past misdeeds.  After talking a bit more she gives Pipira an ornamental dagger that belonged to her mother as a birthday gift and the two Phoenix Fighters go back inside.

Laboring over an experiment, Casey complains to Pipira about the fruitlessness of her endeavor.  Pipira surprises Casey by suddenly making a brilliant suggestion.  Casey becomes convinced that Pipira is hiding something and when she confronts the girl about it, Pipira responds by slicing her arm open and showing Casey her insides.  Casey flips out and flees rather quickly.

Over the course of the next week, Cecilia continues to meet Pipira and Sito on the roof and the three become very good friends.  However, also during the week Sito and Khann continue to get into a series of fights and arguments, culminating on the roof.  Khann taunts Sito and Cecilia a little which sends Sito over the edge.  Though Sito manages to slice open Khann’s back, he soon discovers that Khann’s insides are nothing but fire and lava and neither of them really have an advantage.  Eventually Khann tackles Sito, causing his sword to soar out of his hand.  The blade flies right at Pipira, slicing her arm clean off.  Instead of blood coming out, however, a thick purple liquid and an assortment of nuts and bolts fall from her severed limb, which lands with a very metallic thud on the rooftop.

Both Khann and Sito are shocked but Khann manages to keep his head enough to burn the end of her shoulder to keep any more of the purple goo from coming out, which seems to be the source of Pipira’s sudden panic.  After calming down she explains very briefly that she is a robot before running off to find a few to re-attach her arm.

Pipira eventually finds Casey and enlists her help in reattaching her arm, which turns out to be a very simple process, it was only a matter of finding someone to hold the limb still.  Pipira explains to Casey (in her own roundabout way) her rather peculiar history during the process.  While she is delighted to have two hands again, Casey seems in general very disturbed about the whole ordeal.  She apologizes for her display earlier and promises that she'll eventually adjust to this startling new information.
