At first, she merely assumes he's speaking out loud, but it soon becomes obvious otherwise.  She tells Aden about the demon and they decide to go back to the Phoenix House.  Aden starts to investigate and Ana listens in on people in the House.  At first, she finds her new power highly entertaining, as she eavesdrops on Tranns and Lucien and their private thoughts and frustrations about the current state of their relationship, but she soon starts to realize how much pain both are truly in at the moment.  Meanwhile, Quinn and Casey pay a visit to the Phoenix House and agree to help Aden investigate the demon in question, taking him back to Quinn's Merindar Manor.

The following evening, there is a state dinner.  Adriana begins to get overwhelmed with all the thoughts, flying around her, especially those of her friends.  She overhears a murderous plot and quickly calls the Phoenix Fighters together.  They each go out, trying to find whoever it is who was planning the demise of the guests.

Everyone begins talking to potential suspects as Ana begins to go a little crazy.  She finds Princess Becca in a private study with a weapon and immediately calls her out on it.  Becca complains about her life and how disregarded she feels.  She and Adriana have a heart to heart and Becca finally lowers her weapon.  She reveals, however, that she never planned the murder the party guests.  She was going to commit suicide.  

Meanwhile, Lucien decides to ask around in the kitchen.  There, he finds rat poison and the cook chases him out with a cleaver.  Tranns stops the cook.  The party guests have been saved.  Adriana's sanity, however, is quickly slipping down the drain.  Fortunately, Aden and Quinn have determined that the blood will wear off after a few days.  Until then, they decide to let Adriana stay in Casey's Merindar cottage.  Casey comes to visit her and the two bond over the situation.
